Our Company

The history of Hyundai Motor Group began with the opening of the A-do Service Garage in 1940 by Chung Ju-yung. Since then the organization has grown into a global corporate group specializing in automobiles and has acquired a top position in the automotive sector through passion and commitment. In 2014 we sold 8 million vehicles worldwide and we are constantly moving forward.

From the beginning on, it was clear that all our vehicles needed to be adapted to the European roads and customer driving styles in order to be successful in Europe. Our unique global R&D structure links the best specialists together speeding up product competitiveness improvement to be the best. Moreover, the open minded global customer centered group strategy enabled the development of products dedicated to the European market like the KIA cee’d or Hyundai ix20 and innovative body variants like the wagon which seduced new customers. Last but not least, reliability and product durability became more and more well-known by word-of-mouth recommendations through our loyal customers. Due to the steady growth of our company, the Hyundai Motor Europe Technical Center (HMETC) has claimed an important role in the success story of Hyundai and KIA. Located in Rüsselsheim, we make sure that every Hyundai and KIA which comes to Europe meets the demanding standards of the European customer.

At HMETC we focus on specific regulations and technical requirements for the European automotive market. We permanently analyze the European technologies and market- trends by defining European performance targets.

We are also active members and participants of the most important automotive committees in order to be up-to-date with the latest regulations and tendencies. Additionally, we constantly increase our social networks outside the automotive field with technology-definer stakeholders like: broadcasters, manufactures and network operators.

The result is that Hyundai and KIA vehicles guarantee the full compliance with the European standards whilst keeping their Korean personality.
