Hyundai i30 N – Road Testing in the UK

Following the extreme winter test in Sweden with Thierry Neuville, World Rally Championship driver of Hyundai Motorsport, the Hyundai i30 N has now completed its testing programme on the most challenging roads in the UK. When developing the i30 N, our engineers focus on creating the maximum driving fun and responsiveness in everyday life, as well as on the track. Find out more here:

Hyundai i30 N will be Hyundai Motor’s first high-performance car, currently at the development stage before being launched in Europe in the second half of 2017. The launch of i30 N will follow the launch of the five-door version in January and the i30 Wagon at the Geneva Motor Show in March. Girls’ Day Initiative at HMETC

Innovation and progress are our strongest motivators – not only in terms of technology but as well with regard to social developments. Therefore, we have been participating in the global Girls’ Day Initiative since 2013. This year, the event takes place on Apr. 28th. Three of our departments will offer mini-projects to give an insight into our daily business of engineering. Our aim is to encourage the girls to seize their career options and to decide in favor of a qualified vocational training or degree in professional fields that are presently not typically female.

Collaborations – Commitment to students by HMETC

HMETC is continuously looking to maintain and strengthen the dialogue with research and teaching institutions. The best example of this is our collaboration with the Technische Hochschule in Friedberg in the field of mechanical engineering during the last decade.

In addition to regular exchanges between the University of Applied Sciences and HMETC employees about the latest technologies, our European Technical Center also provides state of the art diesel engines and engine exhibits to the THM (Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen). Those have been either used at our R&D Center or shown at diverse motor shows before.

The latest exhibits, which have been handed over to the THM, were two exhibition engines for teaching purposes and two modern diesel engines for research projects, all as a permanent loan. Besides the engines a high-precision measurement device for diesel fuel injection was also provided.

The exhibits and the fully functioning engines enable the students of the THM to perform applied research and development activities, which help to prepare them for their future careers. On the other hand, HMETC profits from highly motivated, well qualified students undertaking projects for the company or working directly at our Technical Center in the form of an internship or the completion of a graduation thesis. In many cases these student contracts have led to permanent employment after graduation.

HMETC is looking forward to continue working closely with the THM in the future and to become more deeply involved in new innovation projects.

Hyundai: Eröffnung auf dem Nuerburgring

Opening of the Technical Center at Nürburgring

On 12th of September 2013 the new Technical Center of Hyundai Motor Group at Nürburgring was opened. The construction took 18 months and the building is now impressing the visitors with a unique design. The Nürburgring Nordschleife is one of the most important test tracks in Europe for high performance cars.

It is used for testing durability, steering and suspension tuning, for adjusting gearbox ratio and ECU tuning. The Technical Center at Nürburgring will help HMETC to enhance European vehicle development by having a greater capacity for vehicle testing. It offers a unique challenge, perfect for dynamic testing as well as improving durability and drivability of future cars.
